High points of the evening tonight
- I’ve located all my LOTR dvd’s so I can have a nice marathon sometime and re-watch with the commentaries yay \o/
- Then, first I had Astronomy Domine pop up on shuffle in the car earlier, now I’ve come across a Pink Floyd documentary on tv and it’s making me really want to just roll around in their music for a long, long while and be all nostalgic and happy and remember when I was a kid and would play The Wall and sit in front of my flashing light stereo that I thought was so awesome ^_^
- And finally, I have my Spongebob blanket all freshly laundered and fluffy and all is now right with the world :D
Been rather interesting today watching all the fuss about Instagram and their new TOS (We have the right to sell your pictures!) and sudden frantic explanation of the new TOS (We didn’t mean it! We won’t sell your pictures! Don’t go!)
I think I may mostly follow on Instagram now. I wasn’t terribly worried about my own photos, although I could see why professional photographers were concerned. Still I’ll just post new pics to Flickr. I like Flickr better anyway. And they have a pretty new app.
Went to see the Hobbit this afternoon and it was just awesome :D I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about the high frame rate format, tho. The landscapes and outdoor and battle scenes looked amazing, but the close ups and interiors with actors were so sharp and crisp that it felt more like I was watching news footage or somebody’s behind the scenes documentary shots. The 3D was good, but the hyper-sharp images were a little jarring.
Overall, though, omg. I remember being really overwhelmed with feels when I saw the first LOTR movie, after waiting so long and years of rumors about whether or not they’d make one. I had a feeling I’d get all emotional with this too, and when Ian Holm read the first few lines from the book at the beginning I almost started to cry :) It was so worth the wait for this, but it’s going to be really hard to wait for the next installment.
This is just a fan ramble…
Cheery Hello!
A few new people have appeared recently, so welcome! :D I’m making a halfhearted yet hopeful attempt to do NaNoWriMo this month so I’m not as attentive on Tumblr as usual but I’m happy to have you here :D
You can also follow along on my Twitter (where I complain and will bore you silly but you’re welcome to follow if you like) and I also have an Instagram (which now lets you see things online too, yay!)
Various other links on the sidebar on my page, also a tag cloud, and as always if it looks like this isn’t the place you want to be then feel free to unfollow without regrets :)
Thank you for stopping by, there are some Cocoa-Krispie treats in the kitchen, please help yourself. Enjoy your stay!
Well, I think my time has come that I will either gather my willpower and get back to a better eating plan, or I just keep shoveling in the ice cream and sugar until I have gained back every last pound I had lost over the past couple years. Which, for me, at my age, it is a health thing because if I go back to my top weight I know will feel like absolute crap. I did before, and I don’t want that again.
I do still wonder tho why there seem to be fewer female rock fans online (excluding Tumblr) Or more specifically, female fans that are actually closer to my age. I’m not some special snowflake, I know there are lots and lots of rock fans out there who are in my age group, I see them all over the place at concerts, and one of my best friends here isn’t that much younger than me (and I know of several other folks who are my age or older, we just don’t interact) But really, I just wish there were more women my age who are interactive online. And not in a “So and so has invited you to play some stupid facebook game” kind of way. =P
Altho having complained about a lack of online interaction, I have to say I have met some of the nicest people on Tumblr and I’m happy to think of you guys as friends because I love you dearly. And even though I don’t really try to talk with the kids I follow that are under eighteen (because I don’t want to be creepy) you all have great blogs too. And excellent musical taste :D
Oh well. Now and then frustration builds up and I have to complain… also I feel chatty for some reason which means I end up with long text posts. But for now, back to our regularly scheduled picture blog :D
Twitter now hopes I’d like to import my email address book and find my RL contacts. Um, no? Actually most of the people I know in RL can’t imagine why anybody would want to use Twitter. They barely use Facebook. That’s probably a good thing.
Actually now that the occasional RL acquaintance does find my twitter I realize I’m beginning to use it less for random chatter. Not that I used it a lot to begin with, but I should make an anonymous fangirl twitter. Or make a fan page for the blog on Facebook, lol. That idea was mostly because then I could use the fan page with the blog name to ‘like’ all the dozens of soad related fan sites. Random thoughts.
This is one of those days to be in a blah mood because of the most trivial stuff ever.
Still occasionally daydreaming that we’ll be able to move in a year or so. Husband points out that there are people he works with who live on the west coast and telecommute so it’s not out of the question.
Me: That would be lovely.
Hub: You’d probably get to see more concerts out there too. You’d be able to see your guy play.
My guy
^_^
So earlier I was listening to something on the radio that I used to hear a lot around the time I was in college, and I was driving down a road that I used to take all the time then, and thinking it hadn’t really changed at all. I could almost imagine that I could drive to my old apartment and suddenly I’ve gone back in time and I can do things over again. Which would actually be kinda cool.
I’d really miss you guys, though.
It’s just been a Scars on Broadway day ya know :D
So apparently, with Franky Perez having left the band as well, it’s just a four piece now.
Few more dates, guys, come on :)
Browsing around the local radio stations on the iHeartRadio thing… it occurs to me that I’ve spent the past several years listening mostly to my ipod or cds in the car, or the same two stations, I had no idea what else was out there or all the various format changes going on.
I see that I haven’t actually been missing much, at least with the stations in this city. And wow, there are a lot of pop and adult contemporary soft hits and lite music stations.
At least there is a bit more format variety if I expand my range to neighboring cities. Or better playlists. But wish I had slightly better reception in my car, because my antenna isn’t great, and they’re just far enough away to make the signal a little static-y.
